ARCEMS

KFUPM is dedicated to exploring and discovering new ways to protect and preserve our natural resources. For more than four decades, through the Applied Research Center for Environment and Marine Studies (ARCEMS), KFUPM has been at the forefront of supporting the offshore and onshore oil and gas industry and tourism sectors by conducting numerous environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and monitoring related projects for several governmental and private entities. ARCEMS has conducted environmental assessments for several iconic projects of Saudi Arabia; Manifa Causeway, KAUST, NEOM projects, Red Sea Global projects, PIF’s tourism projects are some of them.

The goal of ARCEMS is to lead the way in research, development, and innovation to promote environmental sustainability while preserving our precious natural resources. As part of the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative, the center has restructured its strategic plan to align with the national mission of protecting 30% of land and sea by 2035 and reducing carbon emissions in the Kingdom by 30% by 2040.

To achieve the center vision we strive to reflect our role as a think tank and to be part of knowledge sharing while serving as custodians for long-term environmental sustainability

The NEOM Social Responsibility Award was launched as a tool to highlight and honor the best practices and institutional and individual initiatives that contribute to achieving social responsibility. The award was developed through a global comparison with the standard for social responsibility (SASO-ISO 26000), aligning its mission and objectives with the goals of Vision 2030. The awards that KUPM received are dedicated to honoring NEOM Partners that excel in applying and promoting social responsibility.
